Artists in Montmartre - Karen Addington Nov 20th 2023
A martyr, Jesuits and nuns, broke painters, a very special fortune teller, what do they have in common? Montmartre of course!
From Place de Clichy we will make our way from the confidential side of Montmartre to the iconic Painters' square. Through back streets, cobblestone alleyways, this tour will be an occasion to evoke Picasso and his crowd, André Derain, Guillaume Apollinaire, Max Jacob, but also Picabia, Van Gogh, Renoir. . . and Boronali and hear stories about the painters who made history!
Visited sites: rue Tourlaque, Avenue Junot, Lapin Agile Cabaret (from outside), rue Lepic, Picasso's studio (from outside), Place du Tertre, Sacré Coeur, Saint Pierre de Montmartre, the mill painted by Renoir (from outside), le Clos Montmartre seen from Musée Renoir private garden.
Please note that no commentary can be made inside the two churches we are visiting. I will explain from outside and accompany you inside.
