Private tour of the Marais District - History of the Jewish Community in Paris

We'll meet outside metro Station Pont Marie to start a half day walking tour of Marais district, one of the oldest district of Paris located in the center-east of the capital, on the right bank of the Seine River.

It is a very lively district filled with boutiques and restaurants and is especially popular on Sundays when the central streets are reserved for pedestrians.

The Marais is known as the "Jewish district" in Paris, Parisians flock here on Sundays to enjoy the many restaurants.

The blended Ashkenazi, Sephardic and Israeli food trends bear witness to the dense history of various communities who have populated the district since the early Middle Ages.

How did it all started? How is such a small Pletzl related to the greater European History?  Did Jewish communities ever thrive in France?

The tour will cover the historical Pletzl as well as a short tour of the Holocaust Memorial.
